Cut dry, cut honest

Curls are cut dry and in their natural state, so the shape reflects how your hair actually lives day to day.

Education, never gatekept

Every appointment includes the routine, the products and the how so your hair works at home, not only in our chair.

Green Circle Certified

Up to 95% of salon waste is diverted from landfill, from foils and colour tubes to hair clippings.

Close, tactile view of a dry curly cut in progress at Fringe Salon. The signature curly cut

01 / The cut

Your curls. As they actually live.

Curls are cut dry and in their natural state. Nothing is stretched, blown out or pulled straight first because a curl that has been manipulated tells you nothing about how it will fall tomorrow morning.

Working curl by curl, our stylists read the pattern, the density and the shrinkage, then build a shape that enhances it. The result is a haircut that behaves the same on day one and day thirty, and a routine that feels effortless rather than managed.

02 / The colour

Dimension without compromise.

Colour at Fringe is built around the curl, not in spite of it. Gentle formulas and personalised placement add depth and brightness while protecting the integrity of the pattern underneath.

Every colour service begins with a consultation and a colour prep service, because accurate results start with a clean canvas. Pricing depends on length, density, the product measured out for you and the number of steps your goal actually takes so you hear the number before anything begins.

More than a salon.

Fringe began as a bold, alternative beauty space a creative refuge for people who wanted something different. It listened, and it evolved. What stayed is the part that was never about hair.

The salon doubles as a rotating gallery of Philadelphia-based artists. Work comes down and goes up every couple of months, and the room fills with people who came for the art and stayed for the conversation.

Fringe were early adopters here, and the building is part of the salon's character: the art on our walls often comes from a studio a few floors down, and our clients discover the rest of Bok on the way up.

Portrait of Erin Anderson, founder and owner of Fringe Salon.

The founder

The person behind Fringe.

Erin Anderson came to hair from the visual arts and musical performance, and never left either behind. That's the reason Fringe doesn't read like a typical salon: the walls change, the music matters, and the room is built for expression rather than efficiency.

She believes in her team, and gives them the creative room to express their own vision while constantly providing exposure and education on what's happening in hair care technology with natural texture at the centre of all of it. She is obsessed with every part of the wash-and-go natural hair movement, and grows the team by teaching cutting and colouring to new and existing stylists.

Outside the chair: she wrote the catwalk song for Jay McCarroll's show Stereotype at Bryant Park . He won the very first season of Project Runway and she once drove from Philadelphia to the Arctic Circle, and back.
