See the treatments01 / The cut
Curls are cut dry and in their natural state. Nothing is stretched, blown out or pulled straight first because a curl that has been manipulated tells you nothing about how it will fall tomorrow morning.
Working curl by curl, our stylists read the pattern, the density and the shrinkage, then build a shape that enhances it. The result is a haircut that behaves the same on day one and day thirty, and a routine that feels effortless rather than managed.
Curl-conscious colour
02 / The colour
Colour at Fringe is built around the curl, not in spite of it. Gentle formulas and personalised placement add depth and brightness while protecting the integrity of the pattern underneath.
Every colour service begins with a consultation and a colour prep service, because accurate results start with a clean canvas. Pricing depends on length, density, the product measured out for you and the number of steps your goal actually takes so you hear the number before anything begins.
03 / The ritual
Scalp first. Everything that grows after depends on it. Fringe's head spa menu runs from a full reset to targeted mini treatments, using curl-safe, cruelty-free and eco-conscious brands chosen for your texture Innersense, Kevin.Murphy, DevaCurl, MalibuC and Areté.

Fringe began as a bold, alternative beauty space a creative refuge for people who wanted something different. It listened, and it evolved. What stayed is the part that was never about hair.
The salon doubles as a rotating gallery of Philadelphia-based artists. Work comes down and goes up every couple of months, and the room fills with people who came for the art and stayed for the conversation.
Inside the room

The building
A historic Art Deco building in South Philadelphia a former vocational school, now home to more than 200 tenants. Artists, florists, photographers, makers and small businesses working behind the same wide corridors and steel windows.
Fringe were early adopters here, and the building is part of the salon's character: the art on our walls often comes from a studio a few floors down, and our clients discover the rest of Bok on the way up.

The team
Curly-trained, texture-savvy stylists who create shape, moisture and movement without compromising your natural pattern. Artists, educators and curl nerds who know that no two heads of hair or stories are the same.

Owner · Curl specialist
With a background in the visual arts and musical performance, Erin has infused that energy into the salon space. She has achieved the highest level of certification with Forever Curls Academy, DevaCurl Academy and Rezo Academy, is obsessed with every aspect of the wash-and-go natural hair movement, and builds her team by teaching cutting and colouring to new and existing stylists.

Stylist · Texture specialist
A Philly native who started her professional hair career at 18, Audrey has worked on South Street and in Rittenhouse Square, and owned her own salon for seven years. She has always been grateful that she can help people be themselves and give them awesome, healthy hair and becoming a texture specialist at Fringe has taken her work to the next level.

Stylist · Wavy & curly texture
A seasoned stylist with over a decade of experience, dedicated to helping people feel confident in their natural texture. Avery studied cosmetology at technical high school, so working in the Bok Building feels like a full-circle moment. A wavy girl herself, she understands the process of embracing your hair and loves guiding others through theirs her chair is a safe space.

Stylist · Colour & precision cutting
Licensed since 2001, Beth built her foundation as a precision stylist with advanced training through Vidal Sassoon, and has completed DevaCurl Level 2 advanced training at the DevaCurl Academy. She currently embraces Kevin Murphy for its colour line and its eco-friendly commitment, and delivers cuts and colour on hair of all textures chic and sophisticated through to edgy and fun.

Stylist
LeeAnn went from Fringe client to Fringe stylist. Having worked in a few different professions, her seasoned life experience equipped her for salon life. She is passionate about people, what compliments them, and how she can create the hair "crown" of their dreams totally judgment-free, and a listening ear for anything.

Stylist · they/them
Gini's love for hair began as a teenager, after one too many disappointing haircuts and feeling unheard about personal style. Drawing on 60s mod fashion, Japanese Harajuku street style, punk music and the colourful worlds of John Waters films, Gini sees every haircut as an opportunity to showcase personality. The goal is simple: listen first, create second, and send every guest home feeling seen.

Apprentice stylist · they/them
Bug studied cosmetology in the heart of Philly and is over the moon to be in the Bok Building learning from this bunch of artists. They learned to love their natural texture from a big family who all share curly hair, and find hair an ideal medium to express themself and build community committed to making a safe space for people to discover more about their own identity through powerful cuts and colour.

Salon manager · Coordinator
Colette has been in the industry for many years starting as a nail tech, then as a receptionist and salon manager. A true veteran and a positive force on the team, she's who you'll see at the sales desk, checking you in.
Also on staff
Litter mates and brothers from West Philly, found on Delancey Street and rescued by Project Meow, the boys have been part of the Fringe family since June 2022 Fringe is their home. Vidal is the introvert who loves his feather toys; Sassoon is the extrovert who will snuggle on your lap beneath the cutting cape. Both, unsurprisingly, are named after the most famous hairstylist there has ever been.
The founder
Erin Anderson came to hair from the visual arts and musical performance, and never left either behind. That's the reason Fringe doesn't read like a typical salon: the walls change, the music matters, and the room is built for expression rather than efficiency.
She believes in her team, and gives them the creative room to express their own vision while constantly providing exposure and education on what's happening in hair care technology with natural texture at the centre of all of it. She is obsessed with every part of the wash-and-go natural hair movement, and grows the team by teaching cutting and colouring to new and existing stylists.
Outside the chair: she wrote the catwalk song for Jay McCarroll's show Stereotype at Bryant Park . He won the very first season of Project Runway and she once drove from Philadelphia to the Arctic Circle, and back.
Embracing your natural texture is powerful. The work is about making you feel seen, heard and celebrated just as you are.
Green Circle Certified: up to 95% of salon waste is diverted from landfill, from foils and colour tubes to hair clippings.
We don't gatekeep knowledge. From curl routines to product guidance, you leave knowing how to love your texture at home.
Rooted in South Philly's eclectic, diverse energy early adopters at the Bok Building, giving back through art shows and curl gatherings.
